August 2, 2021Welcome

Management of ASSI sincerely appreciates your continued
patronage of our educational services for our Angels, and hereby provides the
following key updates for your records.
Dual Academic Calendar
Following the closure of schools in the wake of the COVID-19
pandemic, the School’s Cambridge programmes ran virtually from Nursery to Year
10, to complete the 2019/2020 academic year, likewise the First Trimester
programme for the 2020/2021 academic year. Our programmes conformed to the
academic calendar of our external regulator, the Cambridge Assessment
International Education (CAIE), as detailed in our 9th September, 2020
correspondence to parents. Therefore, when the government lifted the lock-down
in January, 2021, the School continued with its Second Trimester and Third
Trimester programmes from January to April and from May to August 2021,
respectively. However, our GES classes have had to be fully aligned with the
new GES calendar, which is now running from January to December 2021.
Vacation
School vacates tomorrow, 3rd August, 2021, to end our
Cambridge programme for 2020/2021. Kindly note that our GES Upper Primary
classes (i.e. Year 4B-6B), will also begin their Second Term vacation on 3rd
August.
"Our Day"
This will be held tomorrow, 3rd August with learners
appearing in their casual but decent clothes as prescribed. Parents may provide
food and drinks as required by learners as usual.
Reopening
School reopens on 7th September, 2021 to usher learners in
our Cambridge programme into the First Trimester of the 2021/22 academic year.
Continuation of Academic work for GES Classes
Our GES Upper Primary classes (i.e., Year 4B-6B) shall
continue the GES calendar for their Third Term, from 7th September to 11th December
2021, in order to complete their syllabus as prescribed. Parents are kindly
reminded that all GES classes shall begin the 2022 academic year next January.
Management has recently informed parents of our incoming GES
(Year 4B) learners (i.e., those who have opted to enrol their wards in the GES
programme for year 4B in January 2022), about the measures put in place to
engage our learners from September to December. Further information will be
made available to them in due course.
Continuation of Academic work for JHS Classes
In line with the new JHS academic calendar, our JHS classes
continue their Second Semester as detailed out in the correspondence circulated
recently by the JHS Head of Department to stakeholders.
Levy for COVID-19 Prevention logistics
In our collective effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.,
since January, 2021, the School has provided logistics from the GhC150.00 levy.
The continuous threat posed by the pandemic made it imperative for the School
to extend its preventive measures, hence the repetition of levy.

Upward adjustment of School Fees
With effect from next academic year, fees charged for all
categories of learners will be raised to meet the School’s growing operational
costs and to enhance staff emoluments. The Accounts Department will send
details of the revised fees to parents soon.
Challenges
Delayed payment of School Fees by a cross-section of
Parents. Management reiterates its general appeal to all Parents to comply with
the payment schedule for school fees to facilitate school operations. Parents
who regularly fulfil their financial obligations to the School promptly are
highly commended. NB: Management did not increase fees for the academic year
under review, considering the impact of the general COVID-19 related economic
downturn on families.
Other key challenges include some Learners’ late arrival to
school, delayed completion and submission of assignments as well as the failure
of some stakeholders to comply with the prescribed health and Safety protocols.
In order to enhance care and supervision of learners who
remain in the school after 3:00pm, Parents who arrive late to pick up their
wards are required to pay GhC20 per child. Management appeals to all Parents to
cooperate with the School in our efforts to tackle these issues effectively.

Conclusion
In conclusion, our School operations, within the context of
the relentless pandemic have, so far, been largely successful, and we are
hopeful that measures being implemented to enhance health and safety, and
smooth implementation of our dual academic programmes, as well as the prospect
of active stakeholder collaboration via ASSISA, will propel us towards our
Mission. Management wishes our vacating classes and families a happy and
peaceful break, and looks forward to welcoming everyone back on 7th September
2021,
